PELVIC FLOOR PHYSICAL THERAPY
WHAT IS THE PELVIC FLOOR?
The pelvic floor consists of two major layers of muscles and sits at the bottom of our pelvis. All women and men have pelvic floors.
The purpose of the pelvic floor is divided by these two layers: 1.) The first layer is responsible for continence, or the ability to control our urine or feces. 2.) The second layer gives our organs support.
Together, the pelvic floor muscle group provides basic control of our daily functions and also plays a major role in our trunk or core stabilization.
